Treasurer’s Report from Ray Bodnar: Starting balance in checking from last meeting: $653.44 and CD for $5,000. Income: $400 from Dues, $723 (includes $13 from raffle at Easter Egg Hunt), $79 from CD interest. New balance in checking: $1,455.44. Expenses: Delmarva (4 months electric $61.70,
$302.94 Easter Egg Hunt, $200 for Face Painter at Easter Egg Hunt, $14.60 Postage Stamps, $70 Leh Landscaping for island cleanup April & May, $15.15 for website, $40.60 for Yard Sale ad in the News Journal. Total expenses: $705. Balance in checking: $723.54 and CD for $5,000. The CD was renewed on June 17 for 9 months at 4% interest. Dues: Out of 388 homes in Harmony Hills, only 101 have paid dues for 2025 and only 154 paid in 2024. Out of 49 homes in Lexington Square only 14 have paid 2025 dues and 23 in 2024. Dues are only $10 and can be paid by cash, a check made payable to Harmony Hills Civic Association and dropped off to the treasurer at 207 Tamara Cir. (corner of Tamara and Ellsworth). Old Business: Paul reported that DelDot has not given a report about the traffic study they did at the entrance. We had asked for the light to be changed so the light let one side go at a time from the development and Ruthar Drive. Paul called again before the meeting but didn’t get a response. Since the meeting he received the following response:
The review recommended increasing the eastbound green time to allow additional vehicles to clear the eastbound queue more effectively, as it was noted there were some vehicles that attempted to “beat the light” and sped up when a yellow was displayed so they didn’t have to wait for another cycle.
Traffic did not recommend the split phasing that was requested as it would significantly increase delays at the intersection, and there were only 2 crashes in the past 5 years that were related to an eastbound left or westbound left failing to yield to the opposing through movement. We are checking with our signal group about the status of the implementation of the changes. Meaghan Barna, Delaware Dept. of Transportation
At the last meeting Joe Marvasi asked if the sign that used to be on the island at the entrance with the names of the three developments and arrows showing the direction, be replaced. It fell down and was never replaced. So far no response from the request.
New Business: Paul asked that everyone mention to family and friends living in the development, that they please not throw their trash out around the islands. He has tried to pick up trash once a month and usually gets a couple 5 gallon buckets of trash each time. We are trying to keep the entrance looking nice. Paul has also taken care of the weeds growing in the cement island outside the development.
The Civic Association received another grant from the County this year of $2,500. The money is allocated for the following: $700 for the Easter Egg Hunt in the Spring, $650 for a community picnic this fall, and $250 for landscaping improvements at the island if needed. The balance is for the Greenridge Disc Golf Course that lies between the Harmony Hills and Greenridge developments for its longevity and usability. In the past, the majority of the funds have gone toward maintenance and expansion of the course due to the relatively low maintenance costs. It was encouraged to also make either of the appointment people aware of any other issues the funds would be able to go towards.
COMMUNITY PICNIC
Paul asked about dates for the picnic. After a short discussion it was decided to hold the picnic on October 11. They are thinking about holding it at the older park since there are kickball and basketball courts available. Paul asked for volunteers to help with the picnic. If you would like to volunteer, contact Paul or Jane (phone numbers at the top of this newsletter). Bendetta Quindlen has volunteered and had suggestions of holding the picnic at the older park and have basketball and kickball available along with making some improvements in the park, such as having a trash barrel and cleaning up the ballpark. COMMUNITY YARD SALE
The next community yard sale is scheduled for Saturday, September 27. An ad will again be placed in the News Journal (paper edition and on-line) and will be advertised on Nextdoor.com.

There are only a few adult size chairs at the daycare, so we recommend you bring a chair. Hopefully our State Representatives will be able to attend the next meeting.
